Instrumentalists and vocalists needing accompaniment must provide an accompanist thatis equally prepared for performance.
Social events will have no repertoire requirements and are open to any member wishing to perform, if performance is part of the planned social. Selections may be suggested to coincide with the theme of the social, if any.
New members are encouraged to attend recitals and socials regularly and become involved in AMS.
New members may be asked to perform outside scheduled recitals or at a social event before being scheduled to perform at a regular season recital. Performance at regular season recital is not guaranteed.
The following will be taken into consideration when the program committee schedules the upcoming year’s programs:
Attendance at recitals and socials
Participation in AMS committees and activities, i.e. hospitality committee, board member, hosting recitals or socials, etc.
Level of performance and quality of past performance.
The program committee has the final decision in choice of performers, performance selections, and locations for performers.
Guest soloists may not be asked to perform again unless they have become members of the Society after their initial guest performance. The program committee may waive this guideline if a fill-in performer is needed due to a last minute cancellation on a regular program and the guest soloist is willing to perform again.
Guests may perform repeatedly if they are performing with a regular paid member, i.e. part of a quintet, duet, accompanist for a member, or soloist with a member accompanying.
The Hospitality Chairman will be calling people to help at each meeting, and we hope that you will agree to help when called upon. Food donations need not be elaborate and simple food donations are encouraged. We don’t want anyone to be burdened with unreasonable food costs.
If you are unable to serve at the scheduled time, please arrange with someone listed in another month to exchange dates with you.
Appropriate dress for performing at our meetings is expected.
